Lifesciences:

In December, Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst ran a Negotiation Workshop at the Bioscience Catalyst.  Delivered by PharmaVentures and supported by Hertfordshire Futures, the full-day workshop included a 3h intro to negotiation in and a 3h role-play session on how to conduct a best in class negotiation.

The event was attended by 16 life science CEOs from Hertfordshire and beyond.  It covered licensing deals, term sheet negotiation, tools and tactics, case studies and cultural differences, the group heard from Adrian Dawkes PhD who shared his expertise spanning 20 years in pharma negotiations. The afternoon role-play activity was reserved for 8 SBC-based CEOs, with the participants splitting into groups to impersonate representatives from either pharma or biotech entities to negotiate on a specific deal-case.  We are currently evaluating the value of the session as we prepare for a follow up event in February, focussing on the role of AI in life sciences.

Since joining the Space East regional cluster at the end of November, Hertfordshire Futures worked on a bid with a cross regional cluster team on a bid to the Space Applications Catapult for resource funding from their Beyond Earth Connected Capabilities Network fund.  Whilst not in the public domain at present, the bid was successful.

On February 27, Airbus and Space East will be running an event at Airbus in Stevenage to help SMEs obtain valuable insights into the standards, capabilities and technologies that are required to work with the Space Sector.  Airbus is seeking a cohort of around 10 companies to attend.  A call has gone out for participants to take part in the event, but this is already oversubscribed.
